About Codeframebase
Advice that begins with the working day
We make German working-time requirements usable for the people planning shifts and the people working them.
Why this practice exists
Codeframebase began in Berlin after repeated conversations in which a rota showed the problem more clearly than a long policy did. Managers needed to know whether a late-to-early shift left enough rest. Employees needed to know which extra hours they could prove. Both needed a calm reading of the records before positions hardened.
Our scope is deliberately narrow: hours worked, breaks, daily and weekly rest, time recording, night and Sunday arrangements, and the connection between statutory limits and contractual overtime. That focus lets us ask concrete questions about the workplace rather than offer a generic employment checklist.
Your adviser
Mara König leads consultations. Her background includes eight years supporting Berlin employers and employee representatives with Arbeitszeitgesetz reviews, shift-pattern documentation and internal employment-policy interpretation. She undertakes continuing professional education in German labour and occupational-safety law and refers matters requiring court representation to an admitted Rechtsanwalt.
How we work
Records before assumptions. We compare schedules, actual time entries, instructions and contract wording. A recollection is labelled as a recollection; a timestamp is labelled as a timestamp.
Statute and pay are separate questions. The maximum hours permitted under working-time law do not by themselves decide whether overtime is payable. We make that distinction visible.
Proportionate advice. Some questions need one corrected break window. Others expose a recurring pattern or an urgent claim deadline. We recommend the smallest responsible next step.
Plain English, German context. Consultations are in English, while German terms such as Arbeitszeit, Ruhezeit and Ausschlussfrist are explained where precision matters.
Relationship with clients
We work with employees, owner-managed businesses, HR teams and operations managers without pretending their interests are identical. Before accepting an engagement, we check for conflicts and explain the boundary of the consultation. Confidential documents are requested only after scope and transfer arrangements are agreed.
